A Growing Opportunity
As the newest member of the Vertex staff of personal trainers, I’m looking forward to all I have to learn in the upcoming weeks. I have to admit, when I first stepped into this facility I was a little taken aback at the large number of Nautilus machines and limited amount of free weights, resistance bands, and the other types of equipment typical to a personal training facility (coming from an athletic background myself, I had become more accustomed to working with free weights and doing plyometrics). However, I soon learned about the methodology behind the workouts at Vertex and how it pieces together perfectly with the service we offer.
We provide a workout that produces the greatest amount of muscle adaptation and strength gain in an efficient amount of time, and low risk of injury. To do this, we use a method called High Intensity Training. And what better way for me to become familiar with this methodology than to participate in it myself?
After my first workout, I began to really understand how well this works. The slow repetitions ensure that muscle tension stays constant, this stimulates the muscle to rebuild and strengthen its fibers. The idea is simple, but effective.
But this is more than simply personal training. I’m quickly becoming aware of how much this career is about building lasting relationships: with clients, with the local businesses of the main line community, and with the staff at Vertex Fitness. I’m learning more here in my first two weeks than I would in a semester of business marketing and sales. The combination of training and networking knowledge I can gain at Vertex is what drew me to pursue a career here.
It’s the end of my second week, I look forward to the experience I’m going to gain here, and am thrilled to be a member of the Vertex team!
