People exercise for many different reasons, but is their
exercise routine making them healthier?
·
Health:
A physiological state in which there is an absence of disease, in order to maintain the body’s ability
to sustain a balance (homeostasis).
·
Fitness:
The bodily state of being physiologically capable of handling challenges that
exist above a resting threshold of activity.
·
Exercise:
Purposefully directed activity that stimulates the body to produce a positive adaptation
in one’s level of fitness and health and does not undermine the latter to
enhance the former.
When one is deciding on an exercise routine they must
consider the benefits, such as increased strength and cardiovascular efficiency
along with the risks. Too much of a good thing isn’t always good. Too many
repetitive movements may cause overuse injuries such as wear and tear on the
ligaments and joints. Exercise should prevent injuries not cause them.
