Meet Brad Pursell
My name is Brad Pursell, I am a Summer Intern at Vertex Fitness. I just finished my sophomore year at Endicott College, located in Beverly, Mass. I am currently in the exercise science program and may look to pursue a degree in physical therapy after graduation. Endicott requires 3 internships, 2-120-hour internships during freshman and sophomore year and a semester long internship senior year. This is the 2nd of my 120 hour internships, but I like it here so much I am going to stay the whole summer. I live in Allentown and attended Allentown Central Catholic High School. I played football, basketball and lacrosse at ACCHS.
I became interested in personal training in high school. I was training with the football team seeing results. During my sophomore year we won the PIAA AAA state championship. Winning the championship showed that the hard work had paid off and I became more interested in training. I sat down with our strength coach and interviewed him on how he got into personal training. After the interview I knew that I wanted to become a personal trainer. The next year during the state quarterfinal game I partially tore my MCL. I was going through rehab when I had an idea for my future career. I want to own a gym where I train and rehab people.
I found out about Vertex through my aunt who went to high school with Dwayne. I came to see the facilities during the winter and instantly knew this was the place where I wanted to do my internship. The professional, yet friendly, environment gave me the impression that I would learn things and not waste my summer. In addition to learning the exercises, I am also learning about the business. I plan to own my own personal training gym one day and gaining all this knowledge from Dwayne and the staff is priceless.
