I Will Be Attending the Resistance Exercise Conference in Minneapolis
I am very excited to be attending the Resistance Exercise Conference 2018 in Minneapolis, put on by my friend Luke Carlson. I look forward to the conference every year, as I have been attending since its inception in 2011, and I was asked to be a presenter in 2013. This years schedule is amazing, as usual. The conference is Friday and Saturday March 9th & 10th at The Graduate Hotel in Minneapolis, MN. The conference runs from 4:30 to 8:30pm on Friday, Day 1 with a Social event after the day’s activities. The social is always fun and a great way to network with other professionals in the field. The second day, Saturday always starts with early workout at on of the Discover Strength facilities followed by the conference from 9am to 4pm ending with the keynote presentation by James Fisher PhD.
Luke Carlson – Luke is running the Resistance Exercise Conference and presenting on the Philosophy, Strategy, and Tactics that Drive Business Growth. Over the last 10 years, Luke and his team have grown Discover Strength to one of the largest personal training studios in the world. Luke has spoken on his approach to business and leadership to audiences in a variety of industries across the globe. He has been a featured speaker at FILEX Australia, the Annual IHRSA Convention, the IHRSA European Congress, the IHRSA Institute for Health Club Executives, the Fitness Leaders Summit, Mindbody BOLD, ChinaFit, and the Vistage Executive Summit.
James Fisher – I hope to collaborate with James soon. James specializes in Heterogeneity, Periodization and the Strength-Endurance Continuum. He completed his BSc (Hons) Sport Science from University of Chester, his MSc Exercise Physiology from Manchester Metropolitan University and his PG Cert in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from Southampton Solent University. James draws on personal experiences as a fitness professional, strength and conditioning coach, GB wheelchair basketball coach at London 2012 games, and published researcher and reviewer, to deliver the theoretical and practical knowledge required for future progression of health, fitness and sporting success.
Dr. Ted Dreisinger – He is presenting on strengthening the lower back, which interests us at Vertex Fitness because of our new cervical and lumbar exercise machines from MedX. Dr. Dreisinger specializes in Isolated Strengthening of the Low Back as a Strategy for the Prevention and Clinical Management of CLBP. He has 32 years of clinical experience in rehabilitation, orthopedics and physical medicine. Ted is Vice President of Outcomes Management for Integrated Pain Solutions, a network of U.S. pain management providers. Previously he was Director of Research and Development for Dynamic Back & Neck Therapy Centers of Detroit, Michigan, as well as holding executive and research positions at spine centers in Columbia, Missouri. He also has consulted for corporate clients to advise them on how to reduce upper extremity cumulative trauma incidents and low back injuries.
Mike Gittleson – Also presenting will be Mike Gittleson, who was a strength coach at the University of Michigan for 30 years and used the same type of training we use at Vertex Fitness, the HIT method. A pioneer in the field, Mike Gittleson spent thirty seasons as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the University of Michigan’s football program. He was appointed the athletic department’s first strength and conditioning coach in 1978. Gittleson was recognized by the Professional Football Strength and Conditioning Coaches Society as the 2003 National Collegiate Football Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year. Gittleson maintained the overall training and conditioning of the football program in one of the finest facilities in the country.
