Enjoy Spring More with Strength Training
Winter is slowly exiting and spring is moving in. As the weather warms, the days lengthen, and the clouds thin in the sky, you are free to dream of a long, active spring and summer. Swimming with friends and family, throwing around the frisbee, and taking scenic hikes in your favorite parks all become tempting. On the nicest days, even the queen of the couch considers being more active.
It’s time to start thinking about your summer body as well. Not how it looks–it’s much more important how you feel. Summer is a more active time of year, and you should be able to enjoy it for as long as you like. The stronger you are, the less effort it takes to perform anything you set yourself in motion to accomplish – from enjoying a walk with your dog to water-skiing. Ease of movement is one of the many benefits of strength training.
As you get stronger, you’ll be able to enjoy spring activities with more ease and comfort for longer. As little as an hour to and hour and a half of resistance training a week, under the guidance of a qualified trainer, can make outdoor activities much easier. It’s much easier to have fun and enjoy the beautiful weather when you aren’t working as hard to do the activities you like. A strength training routine can even give you more springs and summers in your life to enjoy.
Improving your strength and increasing its limits decreases the effort needed to flip a burger or hang onto a zipline. That decrease in effort and expended energy means you can do more of the things you love in spring longer and easier. With the added control and coordination that resistance training provides, you may be able to try things you weren’t confident you could safely do in previous years.
While the weather makes up its mind about when spring will finally stick around, you should take the time to prepare your muscles for the long summer you intend to put it through. Call us at Vertex Fitness and ask us how our proven methods can improve your health and enjoyment this summer.
