How To Make a Difference in the World
“If you go looking for a friend, you’re going to find they’re scarce. If you go out to be a friend, you’ll find them everywhere.” –Zig Ziglar
Zig Ziglar was an effective salesman and popular motivational speaker. Many life lessons and skills can be learned from his books. I would highly recommend his book “See You At The Top.” He will teach you how to be more effective in your career and in building relationships with other individuals. He inspired me to become a better person, to follow my passions in life, and to never give up on my dreams.
The reason I chose this quote to discuss today is because I believe it applies to all people in all situations. A happy individual will find a friend in everyone that they meet. Friendliness towards others impacts all areas of your life. This is evident in a college setting with your classmates, at work with your coworkers, at home with your spouse and children, at social events with friends, and in public with strangers.
Moving to a new city can be a difficult task especially if you are afraid of change. It is important to embrace new experiences and people. This will allow you to fully immerse yourself into the culture. The clientele and staff at Vertex Fitness have been very welcoming to me over the last 4 months. It is a blessing when others are concerned with your transition to a new location. It makes the task that much easier when individuals are welcoming and friendly towards you. At Vertex Fitness, we take pride in caring for each of our clients. It is important that we not only help our clients reach their fitness goals but also support them in all areas of their life. It is inspiring to live an authentic life.
The saying goes that you should “treat others as you would like to be treated”. If I am warm, generous, and inviting to another person when they meet me, it is more likely that they will give me the same feedback. If I am cold, selfish, and closed off to another person when they meet me, the same can be said for that situation. Many times the interactions we have with others are directly influenced by our own words and actions.
Do you go around looking for friends or do you go out into the world to be a friend? That is a question to ponder in your daily interactions over the next couple of days. Your response to that question will directly impact your day-to-day experiences with others. A happy, healthy, and enthusiastic person is very attractive to most people. It is never too late to become the person you want to be in life and make a difference in the world.
